Lauren Collee is a writer and researcher living on unceded Gadigal land. Her work has been published in The Baffler, WIRED, Real Life Magazine, the Los Angeles Review of Books, The Chicago Review, The Public Domain Review, Kill Your Darlings, Overland, The Sydney Review of Books and others.

In the past, she has worked for The Essay Film Festival, The Crafts Council, The Orwell Foundation, The Restart Project and the BPI Centre Pompidou.

She holds a PhD in Visual Cultures from Goldsmiths, University of London. Her thesis was a critical study of the emerging issue of ‘light pollution’ within the broader cultural politics of illumination. It looked at Earth Hour, screen light, the Dark Sky movement, haunted nocturnal camera traps, and more.
